Evidence-based wellbeing measurement

YDWellbeing

YDWellbeing expertly measures and reports your population's level of wellbeing and associated constructs.

Who we are

Measuring wellbeing, scientifically

YDWellbeing expertly measures and reports your population's level of wellbeing and associated constructs. Our approach, based on scientific research, is unique in Australia and grounded in a theory of wellbeing with an extensive range of explanatory capabilities.

“Schools across Australia are inundated with an array of mental health literacy programs, resilience training and mindfulness training, many or most without an evidence base to support their value or safety.”Patrick McGorry — Why we may be overdoing mental health ‘awareness’ in schools, Herald Sun, July 2025

YD is an exception. Evidence-based approaches ensure YD validly measures the wellbeing of school populations. Based on subjective wellbeing homeostasis theory, we are the only organisation with a repository of student data large enough to produce a normative range for constructs demonstrably associated with resilience and wellbeing. Our reporting assists leaders in making informed decisions regarding the wellbeing of student populations.

We can assess and report precisely on your population's level of wellbeing by utilising our online survey, which takes only a minute to complete. For more comprehensive surveys, we also offer tailored solutions designed around your community's needs. Once the data has been collected and analysed, we will provide you with a thorough report written in plain language so everyone can understand it. Consequently, it allows for decisions to be made based on sound evidence and reliable research.

Nowhere else will you find a service that provides an inclusive approach to understanding wellbeing. It positions us as the go-to resource for schools and communities looking for accurate and reliable data about their members.

The theory

Grounded in subjective wellbeing homeostasis

Two factors influence how someone responds to wellbeing surveys: the influence of environmental factors, and our genetically set level of mood. We measure the protective mechanisms — external and internal buffers — that hold wellbeing stable, and report them in plain language.
